Outreach Ministry of CBF
Jesus told us to go out into all the word and preach the good news to all creation (Mark 16:15). To accomplish this important task, we choose to touch people locally, nationally, and globally with the outreach ministry of CBF. With our Lord's command in mind, we want every outreach of CBF to be Christ-centered.
We try to give everyone a chance to participate - men, women, children, the young, and the elderly. While we encourage our entire congregation to serve, we let each individual decide to what degree they get involved.
Two examples of local CBF outreaches are collecting food for the local food pantry and donating money to our county's Family Crisis Center. We sponsor 5-6 blood drives each year for the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center . Our church's youth minister weekly at a local nursing home. We regularly seek for opportunities to help the widows and hurting in our town by doing yard work or minor home repairs.
A national outreach that we regularly participate in is a yearly mission trip to Pennsylvania to work at the GAiN Warehouse. Our youth participate in mission trips each summer to various areas of our nation that need help.
As part of our global outreach, we have sponsored individuals in our congregation on foreign mission trips. We recently began sponsoring an interpreter with Serve India Ministry . This interpreter will help translate our pastor's website into Indian languages with the goal of reaching 100,000 churches by the year 2020. We consider it a great privilege to be a part of a work that can potentially reach millions of people for Christ.
